Overall:

Doctors, hospitalists and nurses are very nice!

Each student will spend 2 weeks in the NICU, 2 weeks in the ED and 4 weeks in the ward. You will rotate every 2 weeks.

Please try to be punctual and don't leave before 4pm. Leaves a bad impression.

There is a rota in the NICU office for all the registrars.

If you don’t speak Arabic, go to Dr. Khalil or Dr. Shooja’s clinic.

Laundry (basement near staff cafeteria): pick up white coats from here.

Locations and timings:

Doctor’s Lounge (1st floor, close to the elevator near front entrance): Handover timings may vary. Please confirm with doctors/residents

Ward 4 (1st floor, closer to back entrance): ward rounds start at 8 or 9am.

NICU (1st floor): they do their rounds early. Go there immediately after handover.

ED (ground floor, near radiology dept): night shift doctor leaves at 9am. Go there immediately after handover and then join the other student(s) in ward 4 at 9am.

OPD (2-4pm): 2nd floor, near hospital entrance

Food:

Staff cafeteria ‘Hot bites’: basement.

Cafe: under the Doctors’ Lounge

Free coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine in the ‘Nursery’ room in Ward 1 on the ground floor.

Try not to go too often... Location of machine may have changed due to COVID-19 (hospital has undergone some restructuring)
